We have some exciting news to share with you regarding Heart of Texas Feral Friends!
As some of you know, for the past few months our "pro-TNR" friends at the Waco Humane Society have wanted to take a more pro-active role with TNR in our community and Central Texas.
After discussion with the Animal Birth Control Clinic, it has been agreed to bring "Heart of Texas Feral Friends" TNR Program under the 501(c)(3) umbrella of the Waco Humane Society.
As a program of the Waco Humane Society, HOTFF will have access to:
* Additional TNR resources!
* TNR grants, some specifically for animal shelters!
* New volunteers from the active Waco Humane Society support system!
* Staff members with TNR experience!
* Opportunity to provide TNR education to individuals who surrender litter after litter... ("planting the seeds" for change!)
HOTFF will continue to provide:
* Advice and coaching to help caregivers get started (and continue) with TNR.
* Trap & Transport assistance for senior citizens and physically-challenged caregivers.
* "Trap Bank" loaner traps (provided by a grant from the Humane Society of the United States).
* Individual Caregiver Fundraising opportunities.
* Public Forums.
* Public Information Booths.
* TNR-Specific Volunteer Orientations.
* "Trap Team" training workshops.
* Email Announcements of Events & Happenings.
* Donated cat food for senior citizens, low-income and large colony caregivers (as available).
* AND... Our famous CAREGIVER MIXERS! (A "By Invitation Only" get-together for TNR Caregivers only... providing networking, colony care information and moral support!!!)
Additionally, the ABC Clinic will still offer individual "TNR colony accounts" for those who would like to request donations made for their specific colony from family and friends, like birthdays, anniversaries, Holidays, etc.
The Waco Humane Society and Animal Birth Control Clinic will continue to partner in our quest to humanely reduce feral/free-roaming cat overpopulation in Central Texas through Trap-Neuter-Return education, services and support.
We are grateful to the ABC Clinic, its Board Members, Director Carrie Kuehl and all the Heart of Texas Feral Friends volunteers for the solid foundation on which they built this incredible TNR Program. We are equally excited about our future as a Waco Humane Society program, and we ready to make an immediate positive impact within our community!
Best regards,
